Andy Kamlet Memorial Award
Andy Kamlet was a founding Board member of Shimmering Wings and served as a volunteer and
Logistics Director at Camp Erin Denver. After the loss of his wife—the mother of their three young
children—in 2014, Andy experienced firsthand the profound impact that the death of a parent can
have on a family. This personal tragedy inspired his dedication to supporting others through grief.
Andy was known for his unwavering kindness and compassion. In July 2018, he tragically died in a
scuba diving accident in Puerto Rico, just weeks before that year’s camp. He was there helping
people restore their homes after Hurricane Maria, embodying the selflessness that defined his life.
Established in 2019, the Andy Kamlet Memorial Award honors individuals and companies who
exemplify Andy’s spirit of service and dedication to Shimmering Wings. More than a recognition, the
award is a promise to carry forward Andy’s light. Each recipient reflects the selflessness and care
that Andy brought to the world. Through this award, his story continues to inspire us all to lead with
kindness, lift others up, and make a difference—one small act at a time.
